Camp NaNoWriMo kicks off this Saturday!
According to NaNoWriMo.org, Camp NaNoWriMo is a “month-long writing challenge [that] takes place every April and July, and offers you the flexibility to try something new with your writing. The key differences between Camp NaNoWriMo and [November’s National Novel Writing Month] challenge are that during Camp, you can set your own word-count goal (you’re not locked into 50,000 words!), and you can officially tackle any kind of writing project, novel or not.”
Learn more and sign up for the July challenge at nanowrimo.org/what-is-camp-nanowrimo or ywp.nanowrimo.org/pages/camp-nanowrimo for under-18 writers!
No project in mind? Camp NaNoWriMo is a great time to work on your submission for the Aloha Community Library Summer Writing Flash Fiction and Found Poem contests! Deadline information and further details are available at alohalibrary.org/event/summer-writing-contest-series.
There are also a wide variety of online writing events to help you dive into the monthlong challenge and stay motivated to meet your writing goals. Join Camp NaNoWriMo’s official Virtual Write-In Events, July 5th, July 11th, July 18th, and July 25th; or, check out local organization Willamette Writers’ calendar of online events including their weekly Thursday afternoon The Write Place: Productivity and Goal Setting meetings, Tuesday & Saturday morning Coffee at Your Kitchen Table meetings, and a variety of other free online meetings and events available at willamettewriters.org/events.
