Yes, you have a library card! (Or, if you don’t, you can learn more about getting a library card here!) But are you a member of our Aloha Community Library Association (ACLA) Guardians?
Membership in the ACLA Guardians is different than being a library patron. Guardians support the library financially through an annual membership fee, through volunteer work, serving on the board of directors, and by providing ideas and support throughout the year at our annual meeting and other ACLA members’ events.
Details
- Guardians’ memberships (open to anyone aged 14 and older) run on an annual basis from July 1st – June 30th to align with our fiscal year. You can still join any time during the year, but we’ll ask you to renew your membership by July 1st of each following year.
- The annual membership fee is $25 each fiscal year. You can also volunteer at least five hours each fiscal year to become a member.
- Your role as a Library Guardian is very important. You will serve as an ambassador for ACLA in our community by sharing library information with those you know. Share our social media posts! Talk about how cool your library is when you have dinner with friends! Bring a guest or two to our programs or fundraisers! Share your Aloha Community Library love with the world!
Benefits of Library Guardian membership include
- Your choice of a Guardians sticker or window cling to show off your support everywhere you go!
- An invitation and one vote per Guardian at ACLA annual meetings.
- Eligibility to join the ACLA Board of Directors.
- Invitations to special Library Guardian events.
- Acknowledgement on the library donor appreciation wall.
- Pride in knowing that YOU are part of the movement to bring much-needed resources to the Aloha community that level the playing field through free access to information, technology, and programs like our early literacy storytimes, book clubs, social hours for adults, summer reading programs for all ages, and more!
If you are ready to answer the call, there’s no need to wait! Library Guardians who opt in or renew through 6/30/2026 will be entered into our records as members for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
