About Teen Summer Reading
Tweens and teens ages 10 through 18 (entering 6th through 12th grade) are invited to Plant a Seed, Read this summer at the Aloha Community Library! Play Summer Reading BINGO for prizes starting Monday, June 1st, and join us every month for an exciting Crafternoon program especially for tweens and teens.
Visit the Kids Summer Reading page for children 10 and under (babies – 5th grade) or the Adult Summer Reading page for adults ages 18+. Please participate in Summer Reading at only one WCCLS library.
Summer Reading Bingo
Download a BINGO card or pick one up at the library and start playing to win! One BINGO — that’s 5 in a row up, down, or across — gets you a free book, an Oaks Park Skate Pass, and a single entry for a prize drawing at the end of the summer. The more BINGOs you complete, the more prize entries you receive! Return your BINGO card between Monday, July 13th and Monday, August 31st to collect your book and enter the prize drawing. Drawing winners will be contacted in early September.
Ways to Play:
- In the library by adding a sticker to the BINGO board in the Teen Area for each challenge you complete.
- On-the-go by filling out a personal BINGO card that can be returned for a free book and entry into a prize drawing at the end of the summer! Available in-person and online June 1st.
Crafternoons for Tweens & Teens
Botanical Watercolor Postcards: Monday, June 22, 2-4 pm
Join artist Elisa Mack to paint botanical postcards inspired by your favorite plants or flowers! This workshop will focus on the basic techniques essential for watercolor painting, including composition, brush technique, color mixing, and more. No experience necessary, all levels of artists are welcome to join! Register here.
Ceramic Animal Workshop: Monday, July 20, 2-4 pm
Join artist Ashley Stare to create miniature animals using porcelain clay! Follow along with step-by-step instructions to make the selected animal or a another critter of your choosing. We’ll add details and color with high-temperature wire and underglazes. Register here.
Mini Macramé: Monday, August 17, 2-4 pm
Have you ever wanted to try macramé, but don’t want to commit to a large undertaking? Mini macramé is perfect for you! In this two-hour workshop, we’ll create miniature woven pot hangers to hold your tiniest of potted plants. Pots and macramé cord will be provided along with basic instructions to get you started.
