This week’s Kanopy Film Club selection is from the writer/director of Winter’s Bone, and follows a PTSD stricken father and his teenage daughter. The relationship between the two principal characters is a rare combination of matter of fact and tender. When it begins, they are living off the grid in Portland’s sprawling, lush Forest Park. The natural environment is filmed with beautiful texture and detail, and knowing it’s close to our backyard is especially stirring. It’s a quiet film that’s never boring.
