Curbside Grab Bag Book Sale @ Aloha Community Library

THIS IS A GRAB-AND-GO EVENT – NO BROWSING WILL BE AVAILABLE

Our summer book sale returns with a twist! Remember the excitement of grab bags when you were a kid? Imagine a grab bag full of books! What could be better? Grab your tontine and enjoy some new reading adventures! You might learn something, like what a “tontine” is.

  • Each grab bag filled with 4-5 books or DVDs = $5
  • Bags will be filled by genre, author, topic, reading level, etc. For the truly adventurous, we may have a “Potluck Grab Bag.” Oh my.
  • Check, cash (exact change only – we will not be able to make change), and credit cards will be accepted. To make this as safe as possible, customers will need to swipe credit cards. No signatures or PINs will be entered. We will ask for verbal permission and show customers the tablet screen before completing the sale. We will not be able to provide receipts.
  • Every dollar generated by the sale benefits our library patrons! Your contributions are transformed into resources and staff to provide online programs, curbside check out, and take-and-make packs for families to create some fun at home!

It’s super easy!

  • Walk up to the exterior doors on the Community Room side of the library (across from Subway).
  • Available bag “topics” will be posted. Are you a fan of thrillers? Want to stock up on romances for the return of cool fall weather? Tell us which bag or bags you would like to purchase. Don’t be shy. We will not judge.
  • Make your contribution, pick up your bags, and head home to explore your treasure!

Of course, we have some rules to keep everyone safe.

  • We can only assist one customer at a time. Please queue safely distanced while waiting your turn. The queue will be marked.
  • Each transaction will be as quick and contact-free as possible. Though we would love to chat. This distancing stuff is hard.
  • The bags are clear plastic. Customers will not be able to handle the bags. We cannot trade books between bags. We can hold them up for you to take a quick look. Remember, this is an adventure. Embrace exploration.
  • Please remember to wear your mask.

Keep an eye out for updates at alohalibrary.org or facebook.com/alohalibrary as we draw closer to August 22! The event may be cancelled unexpectedly if the COVID-19 situation changes.
