Changes Ahead

Heads up, amazing Aloha patrons!

We are making changes to our holds pickup service over the next couple of weeks to address the seasonal weather changes and adding access to our ballot box.

First up – we are no longer offering appointments for holds pickup. Give us a call when you are on your way if you would like your order prepped and ready for you upon your arrival. There may be a delay if we are busy. If you’d like us to deliver your order to the trunk or back seat of your car, give us a call at 503-259-0185.

More updates coming soon! Thanks for your patience as we continue to make service improvements!

Ballot Box Coming Soon!

Yes, Aloha, we will have a ballot box at the library!

Due to our shortened hours, the ballot box will only be available during our regular holds pickup hours beginning Thursday, October 15 from 10 am to 1 pm. Ballot drop off hours will be extended only on Monday, November 2, and Tuesday, November 3.

Before visiting the library, make sure to confirm our holds pickup hours for the day you want to turn in your ballot. Please DO NOT put your ballot in our book returns! Your ballot may be lost or damaged. It will also be quarantined along with the books and movies that have been returned.

Let your friends and neighbors know that they can cast their votes safely at the Aloha Community Library!

Join Our 8th Birthday Challenge!

Our birthday wish is simple this year. And you don’t even have to wrap it. You can help us raise $5,000 to fund library programming costs!   Contribute anytime before September 30th to keep our fantastic staff busy planning amazing programs!

This year, connecting with our community is more important than ever.

Programs in the library bring neighbors together to learn new things, be entertained, and get to know each other. Our virtual programs play an important role in uniting our community, even while we are not able to meet in the library.   Our Take & Make kits, Crafternoon supplies, and Programs-in-a-Bag allow patrons of all ages to participate in activities at home, just as they would in the library.

You Can Help

Your $40 gift will provide materials for 40 Take & Make kits for kids. Tissue paper suncatchers, make-your-own optical illusion projects, and sidewalk chalk, to name a few!
Your $75 gift will provide Crafternoon supplies for 25 teens and adults, just like our Beaded Gecko kits that included beads, beading needles, and string. Crafternoons are now held on Zoom, so anyone can join to learn new techniques while visiting with other crafting fans!
Your $150 gift will fund 40 Program-in-a-Bag kits, like Storytime Essentials – filled with scarves, shakers, and early literacy rhymes. Kiddos will be all ready to tune into virtual storytime and shake along with the songs and rhymes!
Your $350 gift will support an online program by a professional performer or presenter, like our recent performance by Traveling Lantern Theatre Company and upcoming Civics for Adults program!
Your gift of…your choice! Always appreciated!

Beginning Monday, September 14th, appointments are no longer required for curbside holds pickup services! Retrieve holds at your convenience during curbside hours, Monday-Wednesday, 3-6 pm, and Thursday- Saturday, 10 am-1 pm. A limited number of reservation slots are still available for our senior patrons and patrons unable to comfortably wait in our service queue.

  • For assistance with placing holds, contact library staff at 503-259-0185 to leave a message, or email info@alohalibrary.org.
How to Pickup Your Holds
  1. You will receive a notification by your preferred contact method when holds are ready for pickup.
  2. Even for items listed as available on our shelves, it may take at least 72 hours to process your request. Please only show up for curbside services when you have been notified that your holds are ready.
  3. Arrive anytime during curbside holds pick up hours and approach the table outside the library’s front doors. Please wait safely distanced away from the table and anyone else who may also be waiting for their holds (signs in the window will guide you).
  4. Be prepared to place your physical library card (not your library card number written on a piece of paper) or ID in the basket on the service table.
  5. Staff will collect your card or ID with the basket, gather your held items and any other requested material, check them out to you, then return to the service table with you items and card or ID.
  6. Once  staff has stepped back into the library, grab your order and enjoy!
Holds Pickup with an Appointment

For our senior patrons and those unable to comfortably wait in our service queue, a registration appointment can be made online or by contacting the library.

After registration, you will receive an automated confirmation email from Washington County Cooperative Library Services. Reservations are closed 8 hours in advance of each time slot in order to allow staff time to prepare outgoing materials for pickup.

Please feel free to contact the library by telephone upon arrival or prior to departure from your home if you do not have access to a mobile phone.  Aloha Community Library Staff will place your materials on the service table at the library’s front door for contact free pickup or in the trunk or rear seat of your vehicle (staff may need to touch your vehicle to do this) at your request.

If you need accommodations for outdoor pickup, please contact us at 503-259-0185.
