It’s Fall!

Turn over a new leaf this season! Here are some ways to help your library thrive:

Get your Aloha Community Library Hero capes ready! Giving Tuesday is almost here!

Calling all Aloha Community Library Heroes! You have a super power that you are using RIGHT NOW. Reading is one of the most mighty super powers, but it takes practice to master. You can read this because someone helped you discover your super power. On Giving Tuesday, December 3rd, we want to raise $10,000 to fund the purchase of more books for all of our patrons to hone those powers – that’s 1/3 of this year’s budget for books and movies. All in ONE day. We can do it!

Need even more incentive to give? All donations made on Giving Tuesday will be matched by a generous donor, up to $5,000. Donations will be accepted in the library and online. If you are not able to make a donation on Giving Tuesday, please indicate on your check or online that your donation should be credited to our Giving Tuesday appeal. Thank you in advance!

More opportunities to help!

Calling all crafty folks! The Holiday Booktique returns this December! We are now collecting donations of small handcrafted items to sell in in our sale. We’re looking for a variety of items that can be priced reasonably for most folks – scarves, hats, stuffed animals, jewelry, decorations for the home, etc.

  • All items will be donations to the Aloha Community Library Association, with full sale proceeds benefitting library operations. This is not a consignment sale.
  • Items will be displayed on a couple of tables in the library, so nothing too large. Check in with Terri if you have ideas you’d like to bounce around.
  • All items should be unscented or sealed so that no scents can be smelled in the library, including homemade soaps. Apologies – we have lots of folks with allergies and sensitivities. Please contact Terri Palmer, volunteer@alohalibrary.org, with questions.

Fundraising event volunteers needed! Do you have experience planning a fundraising event? Would you like to share your skills and talents, or do you want to learn more about event planning? Join us! The ACLA is planning to hold a major fundraiser in April 2020. We need volunteers to help with planning the event, securing corporate donations, planning additional fundraising activities to incorporate at the event, such as a silent auction, and more. Please contact Terri Palmer, volunteer@alohalibrary.org, if you are interested in learning more. We will schedule planning meetings beginning in November.
