In a time when cuts to school libraries are a painful fact of the library landscape, the spirit of cooperation prevails. Board members from the Aloha Community Library Association were amazed by the generosity and support provided by their brethren in the community of Hillsboro. Aloha Community Library President Douglas Hoy stated, “This is amazing. We are truly grateful for their generosity. The Friends of the Hillsboro Public Library have been wonderful mentors for the Aloha Community Library Association. In addition to their amazing financial support, they have provided guidance on book sales, given us supplies and lots and lots of encouragement”, in response to news of the donation. The Aloha Community Library Association is in the midst of their second fundraising campaign and hopes to raise awareness and financial support from their community during this holiday season. They are planning several events including being open during the second annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on November 24th and hosting a Santa Claus event on December 13.
